SUBSYSTEMS

High Performance Bit Synchronizer
The model PC335 full-function, 10 Mbps tunable bit synchronizer module for signal recovery of a noisy pulse code modulation data system is equipped with an output that provides a clean reconstructed serial data stream and coherent clock. The unit is tunable over the bit range of 10 bps to 10 Mbps for nonreturn to zero codes and 5 Mbps for all other codes. Field-proven performance is within 1 dB of the theoretical bit-error curves over the entire range. The unit offers enhanced synchronized maintenance and acquisition capabilities and maintains effective synchronization down to an Eb/No of –3 dB. Acquisition time is less than 20 transitions in noise. The loop bandwidth can be set anywhere in the range from 0.01 to 1.6 percent without losing phase lock. The single-width, PC-compatible module operates under software control via the PC bus.

Universal Ku-band Test Translator
The model DN-14-12 UNIV translator is designed for applications where multiple Ku-band transmit-to-receive frequency translations are required. The translator is microprocessor controlled and soft-key menu driven for rapid setup and easy operation. Translator parameters are selected by choosing a satellite name, or a combination of transmit, receive and translation frequencies. The translator features a large backlit display, function keys and a scroll knob to provide instant access to critical operating parameters. All operating parameters are available locally or through the remote interface bus. Software upgrades and revisions to include new satellites are available through an integrated Personal Computer Memory Card International Association memory card.

Digital Satellite Upconverter
This digital satellite upconverter is designed to test multirate digital video broadcasting/Motion Picture Experts Group-2-compatible QPSK set-top receivers and modems in both research and development, and production test environments. The upconverter accepts digital or analog modulator outputs at 70 MHz and translates them directly to the 1940 to 2800 MHz input band of receivers, effectively eliminating the need to set up a complete C- or Ku-band upconverter to low noise block conversion chain. The unit has been designed specifically to provide the amplitude, group delay, phase noise and spurious output performance required to support QPSK receiver testing at symbol rates between 1 and 45 Msps.

Fiber-optic Receiver Module
The model SRM-622 synchronous optical network (SONET)/synchronous digital hierarchy (SDH) fiber-optic receiver is designed for optical interface applications found in broadband telecommunication networks. Operating at 622 Mbps, the module incorporates an InGaAs PIN photodetector, GaAs preamplifier, silicon postamplifier, and a state-of-the-art SAW filter-based timing recovery unit. The unit operates from a single +5 V power supply and is housed in a compact, industry-standard 20-pin package for SONET OC-12, SDH, STM-4 and other fiber-optic transmission applications.
