Analog Devices Inc., a global leader in high-performance semiconductors for signal processing applications, announced two software-defined radio (SDR) platform solutions and ecosystems. This brings its portfolio to four platform solutions that simplify rapid SDR system prototyping and development in applications ranging from defense electronics, RF instrumentation, communications infrastructure and open-source SDR development projects.

The AD-FMCOMMS4-EBZ is a transceiver FMC module and the newest addition to Analog Devices’ expanding portfolio of single-channel SDR solutions. It includes the new AD9364 RF Transceiver IC in a cost-effective 1 x 1 SDR rapid prototyping FMC module. The AD-FMCOMMS3-EBZ is also a transceiver FMC module and was engineered for 70 MHz to 6 GHz wideband tuning applications such as hand-held and whitespace radios. It is built around the AD9361 RF transceiver on a 2 X 2 SDR rapid prototyping module joining the previously announced AD-FMCCOMMS2-EBZ FMC module in the dual channel product portfolio.

The new Analog Devices FMC modules include all of the HDL (hardware description language) code and device drivers needed for designers to quickly get their SDR platform up and running on the bench to reduce system development time and risk. For more information on ADI’s SDR solutions, which include RF Agile Transceiver ICs, FMC rapid prototyping platforms and a variety of discrete components visit SDR Revolution.

With the new additions announced today, ADI’s portfolio of SDR platform solutions consist of:

Single-channel SDR Rapid Prototyping FMC Modules

  • AD-FMCOMMS4-EBZ - This cost-effective 1 x 1 SDR rapid prototyping module features the AD9364 agile RF transceiver IC and can be software-configured for highest RF performance in the 2400 – 2500 MHz region or for wide tuning over the 70 MHz – 6 GHz range.
  • AD-FMCOMMS1-EBZ – Composed of discrete high-speed ADI RFIC components, this module provides a hardware platform that addresses a broad range of research, academic, industrial and defense RF applications over the band of 400 MHz to 4 GHz.

Dual-channel SDR Rapid Prototyping FMC Modules

  • AD-FMCOMMS2-EBZ – Tuned for highest RF performance in the 2400 – 2500 MHz region, this module features the AD9361 agile RF transceiver IC on a 2 x 2 SDR rapid prototyping board and is ideal for the RF engineer seeking optimized system performance. Avnet offers the AES-ZSDR2-ADI-G, a complete SDR kit comprised of the AD-FMCOMMS2-EBZ plus ZedBoard ™.
  • AD-FMCOMMS3-EBZ –This 2 x 2 module supports a tuning range of 70 MHz to 6 GHz, uses the AD9361 agile RF transceiver IC and is ideal for the wireless communications SDR system architect seeking a unified development platform with wide tuning capabilities. Avnet offers the AES-ZSDR3-ADI-G, a complete SDR kit comprised of the AD-FMCOMMS3-EBZ plus Xilinx ZC706.
