With IMS 2013 less than one week away, I know everyone here at Microwave Journal is gearing up and ready to go. It is one show (aside from European Microwave Week and Electronic Design Innovation – EDI CON) where a majority of our staff attends the show and you can feel the excitement as we look forward to connecting with much of the industry all in one venue. The IEEE MTT-S IMS is the premier annual international meeting for technologists involved in all aspects of microwave theory and practice. It consists of a full week of events, including technical paper presentations, workshops, and tutorials, as well as a full set of social events. One of those social events is the Women in Microwaves (WIM) Reception.
For the past few years, I have had the pleasure of attending the Women in Microwaves Reception. This has truly come to be one of my favorite social events at IMS. The WIM Reception offers a relaxed setting to meet a wonderful group of women ranging from engineers to marketers to educators. It’s great to see this reception grow in attendance every year.
This year’s Women in Microwaves Reception will be held: 18:00-19:30 at the Seattle Space Needle, 100-Level. So, although most of us do not get to see much of a city while travelling for a show, this is a chance to meet the women in our industry, unwind after the first day of the show, and also get to see one of Seattle’s well-renowned landmarks, the Space Needle.
Please join us as we meet with old friends as well as make new connections to the growing community of women who make a career in the field of high-technology. Enjoy great food, refreshing beverages and warm conversation at the WIM Social Event. I hope to see you there.
Steve Raschko, IMS 2013 chairman, highlights the show, social program and provides additional information on Seattle in his message from the chairman article, which can be viewed at http://www.microwavejournal.com/articles/19751.
Don’t forget to stop by Booth 825 at IMS to visit the women of MWJ. Kristen Anderson, Laura Glazer and I will be there to meet and greet and tell you all about the new products the Journal is now offering. We will be providing a sneak peek to a new print product that is sure to be appealing to our print advertisers. Oh, and of course, don’t forget to pick up your MTT-Shirt. Grab one while you can because they are sure to go quickly. We look forward to seeing everyone in Seattle.
