The increase in mobile broadband users has challenged network operators to provide significantly more capacity, while maintaining network performance. To address this increasing demand for data Ericsson has been contracted to deliver mobile backhaul to Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa S.A. (PTC), the operator arm of the T-Mobile brand in Poland.

Ericsson will supply T-Mobile with its MINI-LINK SP Packet aggregation nodes, Ericsson SPO 1400 Packet Optical Transport and IP Transport network management system products. T-Mobile will gain simple and cost-effective network migration from Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) to high-performance packet networking based on Multiprotocol Label Switching Transport Profile (MPLS-TP) with a complete end-to-end managed mobile backhaul solution from Ericsson. The company is also providing deployment, support and spare parts management services as part of the solution.

Anders Runevad, President of RWCE at Ericsson, said: "PTC, operator of T-Mobile brand, is an exceptional partner for Ericsson. Our companies have cooperated together for 17 years. The mobile backhaul migration provides superior network quality, through a simple and scalable solution. It offers speed and reliability and meets the subscriber demands for more bandwidth and the best possible broadband experience for our customers."
