NuWaves Engineering of Middletown, Ohio, an international Radio Frequency (RF) and Embedded Systems solutions provider, will be exhibiting its high-performance, miniaturized RF products and also demonstrating its most recent technological advancement, a Power Amplifier Linearizer Module (“PALM”) at MILCOM 2012.
NuWaves’ PALM is a power amplifier (PA) appliqué that improves the linearity of a high-efficiency PA while minimizing its required power back-off in support of amplitude-modulated waveforms such as OFDM, COFDM, QAM, etc. Requiring no manual adjustments, the PALM’s adaptive correction maintains optimal linearity over amplifier temperature drift, power output, and other impairments. The PALM is ideal for linearizing high-efficiency PAs regardless of topology: Class A, AB, Doherty; or device technology: GaN, GaAs, LDMOS. By enabling high-efficiency PAs to operate linearly without the traditional limitations on output power, the PALM improves the range of broadband communication systems.
NuWaves’ PALM demonstration at MILCOM will cover 1800 MHz to 2200 MHz and provide up to 20 dB of typical improvement in adjacent channel power rejection (i.e. shoulder levels) over stand-alone high-efficiency PAs, depending on the modulation and signal bandwidth. With a power consumption of less than 1 Watt, PALM adds little overhead to battery operated systems. Additionally, its miniature form factor (2.50” x 1.75” x 0.75”) is well suited for integration into space-constrained platforms, such as Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). NuWaves’ forthcoming standard PALM production model will be available with an operational frequency range of 2200 MHz to 2600 MHz, however custom frequency configurations will also be available.
“NuWaves is committed to providing commercial-off-the-shelf RF technologies that offer our customers performance and versatility,” said Jeff Wells, President and CEO of NuWaves Engineering. “PALM will augment solid state PA performance for operation with a myriad of amplitude-modulated waveforms.”
Stop by NuWaves Engineering’s booth #330, at MILCOM 2012, in the Gaylord Palms Convention Center near Walt Disney World from October 29th to November 1st to see the PALM demonstration.
