Vishay Intertechnology Inc. introduced the industry's first wirebondable thin film chip resistors with compact 40 x 40 mil (1 x 1 mm) footprints to feature high resistance to 100 MΩ. The new CS44 <http://www.vishay.com/doc?60114> series features low TCR down to ± 50 ppm/°C and tolerances to ± 0.5 %.
Based on a chromium silicon thin film resistive element, CS44 series devices offer higher density, ohmic values, and performance when compared with their thick film counterparts. The resistors provide excellent stability of 0.1 % for 2,000 hours at rated power and + 70 °C for high-reliability industrial, medical, military, and aerospace equipment. In these applications, the CS44 resistors can save PCB space and reduce weight by replacing several 20 mil by 20 mil resistors.
The CS44 series offers a wide resistance range from 400 kΩ to 100 MΩ, very low noise of < - 20 dB typical, and thermal EMF of < 0.01 μV/°C. The RoHS-compliant devices offer rated power of 0.380 W at + 70 °C, 100 V limiting element voltage, and a - 55 °C to + 155 °C operating and storage temperature range.
