Altair Semiconductor (www.altair-semi.com), the world’s leading developer of ultra-low power, small footprint and high performance 4G LTE chipsets, announced expansion of its management team with the appointments of Chee W. Kwan as vice president of worldwide sales and Uri Yaffe as vice president of business development.
The announcement comes as Altair significantly expands its global activities and increases chipsets volumes shipping to India, Europe, Asia Pacific and the U.S.
“Chee and Uri join Altair as we seek to expand our global footprint and build new partnerships to deliver first-class LTE solutions,” said Oded Melamed, CEO of Altair Semiconductor. “Their vast industry knowledge and experience will serve Altair well as we move ahead with our global growth strategy and we are very pleased to welcome them to our team.”
Kwan brings more than 27 years of industry experience to the position, having most recently served as the Vice President of Worldwide Marketing and Sales at BroadLight Inc., a company acquired by Broadcom in April 2012. Prior to BroadLight, he served as CEO of Siimpel Corporation, a MEMS semiconductor company acquired by Tessera Corporation in 2010. He was previously the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Conexant System Inc.’s wireless business unit and held various senior management roles in product marketing and technology development while at Conexant Systems.
Yaffe, with more than 20 years of experience as a C-Level executive, previously founded and served as the CEO of Cellular Bridge, a business development and consulting company focused on the telecom and Internet industries. He also served as Co-CEO of e-Sim, which was acquired by Sky MobileMedia’s in 2007. Following the acquisition he served as VP of Worldwide Sales for Sky MobileMedia.
Over the last year, Altair has rapidly expanded its presence around the world, opening regional offices in India, while increasing operations in the U.S., Germany, China and Taiwan.
