Crane Aerospace & Electronics, a segment of Crane Co., hosted a meeting and facility tour with Rep. Rick Larson, WA -02, on July 27 at the Lynnwood, WA site. Larsen was interested in learning more about Crane, Crane’s involvement in the community, and Crane’s opportunities and needs in the aerospace and defense industry, especially since Crane will be part of the newly-defined second district.
Bob Tavares, President of the Electronics Group of Crane Aerospace & Electronics, said, “We are very pleased with having the opportunity to host Congressman Larsen, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, at our Lynnwood, WA facility. His visit enabled us to have an excellent discussion on Crane’s support of the warfighter and many of the mission critical systems our highly engineered solutions support. We also exchanged thoughts on the implications the Budget Control Act automatic sequestration cuts on defense spending could have on the defense industry. Crane is a key partner to the prime defense contractors. As such, we are keenly focused on understanding and planning for the potential of sequestration.”
Rick Jones, Senior Vice President of the Aerospace Group of Crane Aerospace & Electronics, added, “Crane is very involved in Washington State and in the redefined second district. We have more than 1,000 employees in Washington and partner with about 160 Washington State suppliers. Our employees are actively involved in local charity work like United Way’s Day of Caring, and we support about 16 local organizations including the American Cancer Society, Hopelink, and Seattle Children’s Hospital.”
Larsen found the visit and facility tour informative, adding, “High-tech manufacturers like Crane Aerospace & Electronics create good jobs right here in Northwest Washington and help us keep our position as a world leader in aerospace manufacturing.” To learn more about Rep.
