Previously divided between corporate and business line divisions the newly created business line R&D unit will operate from the company’s Tokyo headquarters. The ubiquitous related development staff will be quadrupled with the addition of a new Ubiquitous Platform Development Division within Solution Research and Development, and staff increases in Internet Systems Research Laboratories. Furthermore, R&D staff in grid, mission critical systems in the open environment and security fields will double, and mobile R&D related staff will increase by 50 per cent.
