The Microwave Journal team is on the road this week, with representatives in Shenzhen, China for the MWIE show and New Orleans for the CTIA Wireless event. In Shenzhen, Editor Pat Hindle will be working with our China-based editor Katie Huang to solicit articles for MWJ China print and online, and will be distributing copies of the just printed May/June issue from our booth at the show.

At CTIA, we’ll be based in the RF/Microwave Zone Pavilion (booth 4502), organized by MWJ. This year’s pavilion is sold out and features 17 companies representing a variety of products and services. We have also organized two CTIA partner events, “OTA Signal Challenges and Implications” on Wednesday (11:00 AM - 1:00 PM) and “MIMO OTA Measurements” on Thursday (12:00 - 2:00 PM). If you’re attending CTIA, stop by the “Zone” and grab a cup of coffee in the lounge adjacent to our booth. We’ll be distributing hundreds of copies of the April issue, the Cables and Connectors supplement, the Mobile Communications supplement and MWJ China in the pub bins and the lounge, providing bonus distribution for our valued advertisers (watch for the segue coming up).

Speaking of advertising, we’re now working on the June issue of MWJ, which has editorial focus on “Semiconductors, MMICs and RFICs”. The cover story is “Market Opportunities for GaN – Views from Industry Experts”, which will be an extension of a Strategy Analytics panel session at IMS. You can find more details on the editorial planned for this issue and advertising deadlines from the monthly Ad Bulletin.

The May issue is wrapped up and off to the printer. As our show issue for IMS, it’s a big one and loaded with great articles. A huge thanks to our advertisers for their support, which allows us to provide such a magnitude of content and provides a good workout for our mail carriers. We do have a few IMS “Show Daily” sponsorships still available, so if you’re interested, contact your sales representative.

The MTT-S is rapidly approaching, and we’re gearing up for our road trip to Montreal. We’ll be packing the annual MTT-Shirts and other goodies, so barring any problems at the border crossing; we’ll be showing up in full force. More to come on the show in next month’s WaveGuide.

This edition features contributions from Debra Seifert and Dave Strand (part 2). If you’re interested in contributing to a future edition of the WaveGuide, please contact me. In the meantime, if you’re in New Orleans you can find me in the “Zone” or on Bourbon Street searching for some Cajun cuisine.

Regards,

Carl Sheffres
