All Roads Lead to Montréal

I’m just back from a road trip to Montréal, where we scouted party venues and familiarized ourselves with the downtown area. I had not had the pleasure of visiting Montréal for many years, and I have to say, it’s a really nice city. The Old Port area feels very European, with cobbled streets and little shops and pubs. The Sainte Catherine Street area is a more upscale mix of retail and entertainment, with a bustling nightlife. The convention center is situated between these two areas, with a fairly short walk to either. I was glad to see Chinatown close by the CC, offering the opportunity for my favorite lunch selections during the show. I think that Montréal is going to be an enjoyable venue for attendees of this year’s IMS.

Speaking of IMS, we’re in the stretch run to closing our annual show issue. The deadline to book ad space in the May issue is Monday, April 16th. This issue gets tremendous bonus distribution, with thousands of copies distributed via the delegate bags and on the show floor. All advertisers will get a new product featured in the magazine, with the section laid out by aisle for easy reference on the exhibition floor. These products will also be promoted on our website, in the Online Show Dailies and on the Pinterest platform. If you’re looking to maximize your presence at this year’s event and have not yet booked your program, I encourage you to contact your sales rep.

The Online Show Dailies will begin their coverage on May 21st, offering a weekly preview of symposium and exhibition news and highlights. Coverage will continue daily during the event, with reports from the show floor, followed by a wrap-up edition at the conclusion. There are still a few exclusive sponsorships available, but they won’t last, so ask your sales rep about available dates if you’re interested.

This month features the annual WAMICON event, taking place in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Look for Mike Hallman roaming the show in his Bermuda shorts. Next month features the mega CTIA show, this year in New Orleans. If you plan to exhibit or attend, contact David Vye for editorial coverage and stop by the RF/microwave Zone pavilion to meet the MWJ team and colleagues from over twenty exhibiting companies. We’re also organizing two special panel sessions, Over-the-air Signal Challenges and Implications - Recommendation for LTE RAN and MIMO OTA Measurements – The Next Generation Platform during the show, featuring industry experts and innovators.

Jay PeakIt’s going to be a busy three months ahead, culminating with the IMS in Montréal. I should mention for those in the Northeast, that the drive from Boston was pretty painless. It took about 5-1/2 hours, not including the stop at Jay Peak in Vermont for a little afternoon skiing (in 75 degree weather!). You’ll have to wait for the May issue for more road trip stories.
