In order to expand and develop its operations in Africa NEC Corporation will establish branch offices in Nairobi, Kenya and in Lagos, Nigeria. The company has also appointed Masahiro Yoshikawa as President of NEC Africa (Pty) Ltd, which is a 100 percent subsidiary of NEC Europe Ltd, the regional headquarters in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Across the sub-Saharan market, NEC provides its customers in the telecoms, public and enterprise sectors with public safety solutions including identification systems, network solutions, social infrastructure solutions and cloud computing solutions.
Yoshikawa, who will lead NEC’s sub-Saharan African business from its new sub-regional headquarters in Johannesburg, South Africa, commented, “NEC has been contributing to the African governments by provision of security systems using fingerprints/face recognition technologies, mobile network infrastructure solutions and broadcasting systems.”
He added, “At the same time, Africa is poised to reap the benefits and rewards of these exciting technologies. We will enable our customers to achieve their goals and success with our focus on the integration of IT and communication network resources, skill sets and expertise.”
