At the Farnborough International Air Show in the UK, SELEX Sensors and Airborne Systems UK announced that it has won a contract to supply its combat proven Hostile Artillery Locating System (HALO) to the Canadian Department of National Defense. The £7.5 M contract is for the supply of multiple systems to support the Canadian defense forces on missions at home and abroad and was awarded as a result of a successful response to a Canadian Government Solicitation of Interest and Qualification.

The contract adds another NATO customer to the list of countries, including the US and the UK, who have already selected HALO as their system of choice. The system is proving to be a success worldwide with further orders already secured in Japan and at least one middle-eastern country.

Commenting on the contract award, Doug Baxter, managing director and general manager for SELEX S&AS, Basildon, UK, said, "SELEX S&AS is delighted to have won this important contract with another NATO partner. We are looking forward to supporting the Canadian forces on future deployments with HALO, which has proved so successful in saving the lives of UK and US soldiers and marines on operations around the world. We are committed to a program of continuous improvement to further enhance HALO's already powerful capabilities. We will continue to invest in the system for many years to come."
