M/A-COM Technology Solutions Inc. (M/A-COM Tech), a supplier of high-performance analog semiconductor solutions, introduced seven new products covering networks and aerospace and defense applications.

CATV/Broadband:

The MAAM-010263 completes the family of default-on broadband active splitters designed for multi-tuner set-top boxes, home gateways and customer premises equipment (CPE) applications. Featuring a default-on loop-through path, the MAAM-010263 allows for access to the cable signal even when the CPE box is powered down.

The MAAM-010263 is a highly linear six-way active splitter with low distortion and low noise figure. Designed for operation from 50 to 1100 MHz, the amplifier is packaged in a RoHS compliant 4 mm 24-lead PQFN. The six-way splitter is fabricated on M/A-COM Tech’s established E/D pHEMT process, which delivers low distortion, low noise figure and highly repeatable performance.

Also released is the MAAM-010333, an optical node RF amplifier operating between 50 to 1000 MHz. This integrated TIA, VVA, RF amplifier provides high gain, low EIN and low distortion amplification for optical node applications. Fabricated on M/A-COM Tech’s GaAs pHEMT technology, the amplifier is packaged in a 4 mm 24-lead PQFN, and operates between -8 to +2 dBm of optical input power. With a single +5 V Bias and 27 dB gain control range, the MAAM-010333 is a highly integrated, low cost solution for optical node applications.

Cellular Infrastructure:

The MAAD-000523 is a six-bit, 0.5 dB digital attenuator for 50 Ω systems, operating between the 0.7 t 6.0 GHz frequency range. This attenuator is ideal when high accuracy, low power consumption and low intermodulation products are required.

The MAAD-000523 includes an integrated TTL/CMOS compatible driver, and offers parallel and serial control with a power-up state function. Packaged in a lead-free 4 mm 24-lead PQFN, the MAAD-000523 has small relative phase variation per bit, and achieves an insertion loss of 1.6 dB at 2 GHz. The attenuator features a typical input return loss of 18 dB up to 6 GHz.

Additionally, M/A-COM Tech added two new additions to its family of switches for cellular infrastructure applications. Operating from 0.01 to 4.0 GHz and packaged in an industry standard 4 mm 24-lead PQFN, the MASW-010350 is a high isolation single pole four throw (SP4T) switch, while the MASW-010351 is a high isolation single pole five throw (SP5T) switch.

With a symmetric circuit design utilizing M/A-COM Tech’s GaAs pHEMT technology and an integrated CMOS decoder, both switches maintain an excellent combination of low insertion loss and high isolation for all states. The new switches are designed to lower the system complexity and reduce the bill of material cost by replacing multiple single pole double throw (SPDT) switches. These switches are ideal for band switching in multi-channel and multi-mode base-station applications.

Aerospace and Defense:

The MAPS-010146 and MAPS-010166 are X-band additions to M/A-COM Tech’s family of digital phase shifters. These phase shifters facilitate easy implementation in communication antennas, phased array radars, weather radars and EW receivers.

The MAPS-010146 is a four-bit digital phase shifter housed in a 4 mm 24-lead PQFN package. It provides 360° phase shift range with a step size of 22.5°. It is controlled with a single +5.0 V serial or parallel control line. Its insertion loss is 6.5 dB, with a low +/- 1.0 dB attenuation variation and +/- 10.0° phase accuracy over the 8.0 GHz to 12.0 GHz frequency range.

The MAPS-010166 is a six-bit digital phase shifter housed in a 4 mm 24-lead PQFN package. It provides 360° phase shift range with a step size of 5.625°. It is controlled with a single +5.0 V serial or parallel control line. Its insertion loss is 6.5 dB, with a low +/- 1.2 dB attenuation variation and +/- 8.0° phase accuracy over the 8.0 to 12.0 GHz frequency range.
