Powerful New Amplifier and Wide Range DVGA Cover 400 to 2700 MHz

Chelmsford, MA, December 10, 2010 - Hittite Microwave Corporation, the world class supplier of complete MMIC based solutions for communication & military markets, has introduced a new GaAs HBT MMIC Power Amplifier and a wide dynamic range Digital Variable Gain Amplifier (DVGA) which are ideal for high linearity applications in cellular/3G, LTE/4G, WiMAX, military and fixed wireless equipment applications from 400 to 2700 MHz.

The HMC921LP4E is a high linearity GaAs HBT MMIC 2 Watt Power Amplifier which is rated from 400 to 2700 MHz. This versatile power amplifier delivers up to 16 dB gain, +33 dBm output P1dB, and +48 dBm output IP3. With a CDMA2000 test signal at 1960 MHz, the HMC921LP4E delivers -70 dBc of Adjacent Channel Power Ratio (ACPR) with a channel output power of +22 dBm. This compact power amplifier can be biased in either a low quiescent current mode or a maximum output power mode by adjusting a single external resistor. The HMC921LP4E is housed in a RoHS compliant 4 x 4 mm QFN leadless package with an exposed ground paddle for excellent reliability. The HMC921LP4E utilizes a minimum number of external components and operates from a single +5 V supply.

The HMC926LP5E is a Digitally Controlled Variable Gain Amplifier which operates from 700 to 2700 MHz, and can be programmed to provide from 6.5 dB to 38 dB of gain, in 0.5 dB steps at 900 MHz. Gain control range is from 1 dB to 32.5 dB at 1900 MHz and from -4 dB to 27.5 dB at 2600 MHz. The HMC926LP5E delivers noise figure as low as 4.4 dB in its maximum gain state and output IP3 of up to +45 dBm. This wide dynamic range DVGA features a serial control interface, a user selectable power up state, and a serial output for cascading other Hittite serially controlled components. The HMC926LP5E is housed in a RoHS compliant 5 x 5 mm QFN leadless package.
