High Performance GaAs MMIC I/Q Upconverters Span 11 to 21 GHz! Upconverters deliver up to +30 dBm Output IP3 & -20 dB Sideband Rejection.

Chelmsford, MA, 3/30/09 – Hittite Microwave Corporation, the world class supplier of complete MMIC based solutions for communication & military markets, has introduced two new GaAs MMIC I/Q Upconverter products which span the input frequency range of 11 to 21 GHz, and are ideal for a multitude of applications including point-to-point radio, satellite communications, test & measurement, sensors, military radar, EW and ELINT. The HMC709LC5 and the HMC710LC5 are specified for operation from -40ºC to +85ºC, and utilize an I/Q mixer topology which reduces the need for filtering of the unwanted sideband, while simultaneously providing designers with a much smaller alternative to hybrid style single sideband upconverter assemblies.

The HMC709LC5 is a compact GaAs MMIC I/Q Upconverter in a ceramic leadless RoHS compliant 5x5 mm SMT package. From 11 to 17 GHz this device provides a conversion gain of 13 dB with -20 dB of sideband rejection. The HMC709LC5 also provides +26 dBm output IP3, and 10 dB of LO to RF isolation. The HMC709LC5 utilizes a driver amplifier preceded by an I/Q mixer which is driven by an LO buffer amplifier. IF1 and IF2 mixer inputs are provided and an external 90° hybrid is used to select the required sideband.

The HMC710LC5 is a compact GaAs MMIC I/Q Upconverter in a ceramic leadless RoHS compliant 5x5 mm SMT package. From 16 to 21 GHz this device provides a conversion gain of 12 dB with -20 dB of sideband rejection. The HMC710LC5 also provides +30 dBm output IP3, and 12 dB of 2LO to RF isolation. The HMC710LC5 utilizes a driver amplifier preceded by an I/Q mixer where the LO is driven by an active x2 multiplier. IF1 and IF2 mixer inputs are provided and an external 90° hybrid is used to select the required sideband.

Samples and evaluation PC boards for all SMT packaged products are available from stock and can be ordered via the company's e-commerce site or via direct purchase order.
