Wavecom, a global provider of integrated technology solutions for wireless voice and data applications, has signed a partnership agreement with Plextek, an independent European electronics design company of telemetry products and systems. Under the agreement, Plextek becomes a Wavecom certified design house, offering design, development and integration of the company’s products.

Based in Cambridge, UK, Plextek has an extensive history of designing communication products, particularly those employing GSM/GPRS systems, such as telephone and gaming multimedia terminals, tracking, telematic projects, remote data and machine-to-machine applications. The company holds BS EN ISO 9001:2000 certification and is an approved supplier to a range of UK government departments and utilities including the Department of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Defence and the Home Office. It is also a full member of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), participating in the development and generation of standards.

As part of its global strategy, Wavecom partners with design houses specialising in wireless communications, but Plextek is the first to become a certified design house for vertical applications acting on a worldwide basis, with its main focus currently on the EMEA region. With its expertise in complete product development and testing, the company can assist users of Wavecom’s technology with design, development and integration into a wide variety of applications such as machine-to-machine telemetry/telecommand, remote monitoring and wireless local loop products.
