Offering Wide Portfolio of LTE Test Instruments, Anritsu is Addressing the Needs of LTE Chipset and Device Manufacturers, and Carriers Deploying LTE Networks

March 23, 2010

Anritsu Company will be showcasing a number of new LTE test solutions for the first time in its booth (#3358) at CTIA Wireless, expanding its portfolio of LTE instruments. Targeting LTE chipset and device manufacturers, as well as carriers deploying LTE networks, Anritsu will be featuring the MS2830A Signal Analyzer, Cell Master™ MT8213E, and LTE options for its MS2712E/MS2713E Spectrum Master™ and MT8221B BTS Master™.

These products join Anritsu's well-established portfolio of LTE solutions, including the award-winning MD8430A LTE Signaling Tester and MX786201A Rapid Test Designer (RTD) software. Anritsu's LTE test solutions also include protocol conformance, RF conformance, and carrier IOT systems built upon the MD8430A.

"Anritsu has made a significant commitment to the development of test solutions for Next Generation Networking (NGN). Anritsu recognized the potential of LTE early on and has been active with standards committees and leading manufacturers to develop test solutions that help ensure the performance and improve time-to-market of LTE products. For example, we are unique in having LTE handheld base station analyzers that are being used in the field today to deploy LTE networks," said Frank Tiernan, President of Anritsu Company.

Design and Production Solutions The MD8430A is a high-performance, cost-effective LTE network simulator that allows manufacturers of LTE chipsets and mobile devices to evaluate products and improve time-to-market. The MD8430A provides test capability for protocol and application tests, including throughput, inter-RAT and intra-RAT, and is used as a building block for Anritsu's ME7832L protocol and ME7873L RF conformance test systems. Built-in 4-RF capability allows for testing of both 4x2 and 2x2 MIMO handover as well as simulation of complex RF environments in a single instrument.

The MX786201A RTD software provides users with the power to create test cases far beyond that of traditional language-based tools, with true multimode support for LTE, W-CDMA/HSPA and other access technologies. The RTD user interface offers an intuitive environment through "point and click" test case creation and easy-to-understand setting screens, allowing users to quickly build a library of working test cases.

Designed for development of LTE chipsets and devices, the MS2830A Signal Analyzer delivers best-in-class speed and accuracy over a frequency range of 9 kHz to 3.6/6.0/13.5 GHz in a cost-efficient design. The base model MS2830A conducts frequency sweeps as well as power vs. time measurements and enables transfers of batch measurement results in approximately 12 ms. When any of the optional VSA software packages are installed, the MS2830A supports noise averaging in approximately 0.1 sec, several times faster than conventional swept spectrum analyzers.

Other test solutions for design and production environments include the MS269xA Signal Analyzer and MG3700A Vector Signal Generator. Anritsu's IQProducer software can be used with these instruments to provide a graphical interface that lets users easily generate LTE-compliant waveforms.

Field Solutions Anritsu incorporated LTE test technology from its production instruments into the new MT8213E Cell Master, as well as the LTE packages for the MS2712E/MS2713E Spectrum Master and MT8221B BTS Master. The MT8213E is the most compact handheld base station analyzer to provide frequency coverage up to 6 GHz, making it ideal for cell site technicians who need to accurately and quickly test and verify the performance of installed wireless networks, including LTE.

The new options for the MS2712E/MS2713E allow field engineers and technicians to conduct RF, modulation, and Over-the-Air (OTA) measurements on 10 MHz LTE signals during the deployment, installation, and operation of LTE networks. When equipped with its new LTE measurement option, the MT8221B provides RF and modulation quality measurement capabilities for LTE bandwidths from 1.4 MHz all the way through to 20 MHz. No other handheld instrument provides similar LTE coverage and measurement capability.

"Anritsu is well positioned to help manufacturers and service providers with LTE test solutions for the lab, production floor, and field. Anritsu is currently delivering the test instruments necessary for the successful rollout of LTE networks and will continue to do so for future NGN technologies," said Donn Mulder, VP and General Manager, Anritsu Company.
