BARCELONA, Spain, 2009 Mobile World Congress, Hall 1, Stand D45, Feb. 16, 2009 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced the addition of the new N6434A Network Conformance Test (NCT) system to its E6651A Mobile WiMAX test set family. This system and the powerful N6430A Protocol Conformance Test (PCT) system are both designed using the same basic hardware configuration. By providing design and test engineers the ability to perform both network and protocol conformance test using a single hardware configuration, the new NCT solution provides high value for module/IC design teams and test houses working in the emerging WiMAX™ marketplace.

Agilent’s network conformance test system is just one of the new solutions on display here at the 2009 Mobile World Congress. While each measurement solution features a unique set of functionality, they all share the ability to enable the design and test of products for a mobile world.

Network conformance test, like PCT, is a vital part of the WiMAX Forum® certification process, testing conformance above the MAC layer to verify Internet Protocol layer signaling and messaging to and from the subscriber device. The availability of rigorous and efficient network test solutions is a must for ensuring successful delivery of WiMAX technologies. Designed as a complement to Agilent’s existing PCT solution, the NCT system provides a validated test regime for TTCN-3 network conformance testing. This breadth of functionality offers users increased coverage of certification test requirements. Since the NCT system uses the same test infrastructure as the PCT solution, only one hardware configuration is required for mobile station NCT and PCT testing.

Agilent’s system hardware provides full frequency flexibility and support for the WiMAX Forum’s mobile profiles based on the IEEE 802.16e-2005 standard. Such flexibility is key to enabling market adoption of Mobile WiMAX, independent of a specific profile.

“Building on the success of our WiMAX protocol conformance test solution, Agilent is delighted to now offer its valued customers a complete network conformance test solution,” said Niels Faché, vice president and general manager of Agilent’s Mobile Broadband Division. “This capability will enable them to quickly and effectively grow their coverage of the certification test needs using a single hardware platform.”

Agilent’s N6430A IEEE 802.1e PCT solution delivers a comprehensive suite of test solutions for 802.16-2004/Cor2 D3 Mobile WiMAX protocol and development testing. Solutions range from a scripting interface to a fully functional radio bearer based on the Agilent E6651A Mobile WiMAX test set platform. The N6430A supports a significant and growing number of validated WiMAX PCT test cases for both 2.5 and 3.5 GHz bands. The Agilent E6651A portfolio of solutions supports multiple R&D testing needs in addition to PCT -- including base-station emulation, RF parametric measurements and Radiated Performance Testing.
