Honolulu, HI IMS 2007 June 5, 2007 Rohde & Schwarz has introduced the R&S AMU200A, the only measurement solution to combine two complete baseband signal generators and a real-time fading simulator with up to 40 fading paths for standards-compliant channel simulation in a single instrument. The AMU200A is a cost-effective, precision solution for testing baseband components for mobile user equipment, base stations, and other broadband communications systems. The R&S AMU200A enables a variety of test methods in the baseband regardless of whether the user is working with digital standards, diversity methods, or fading behavior. The R&S AMU200A is contained in only four rack units, and its modular design allows it to be configured independently as a fading simulator or as a baseband signal generator. It can be upgraded to meet future requirements as well. The system provides up to 20 fading paths per channel, time resolution of 0.01 ns, and predefined static and dynamic fading profiles that allow measurements to be made under realistic signal conditions. Signal quality is excellent, with broadband phase noise of -155 dBc, ACLR performance of +78 dB for 3GPP FDD, and flat frequency response of 0.03?dB at an I/Q?bandwidth of 40 MHz. The R&S AMU200A also functions as a flexible baseband source and generates signals for digital standards such as WLAN, WiMAX, GSM/EDGE, 3GPP FDD, HSPA, and UMTS LTE. When equipped with the two optional, connectible baseband paths, the R&S AMU200A provides two synchronous generators. This allows diversity tests to be performed with a single instrument, which reduces cost and saves space. Each of the two internal signal generators features an arbitrary waveform generator that delivers 16, 64, or 128 Msamples, so user-specific multicarrier signals can also be easily generated. The combination of up to four baseband signals also permits measurements on base stations that serve multiple wireless standards. The R&S AMU200A baseband signal generator and real-time fading simulator is available now from Rohde & Schwarz.
