GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA - November 28, 2006 - RF Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ: RFMD), a global leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance radio systems and solutions for applications that drive mobile communications, today announced the availability of samples of the RF8110 scalable GPS solution - a software/host based GPS solution. The RF8110 scalable GPS solution combines a RFIC and software to deliver advanced GPS technology to next generation mobile phones and personal multimedia and navigation devices. It is the first in RFMD's line of scalable GPS solutions, which allow optimization of such factors as cost, battery life, size and performance. The RF8110 offers accurate positioning data (even while indoors) and requires the fewest number of components, resulting in the lowest total bill-of-materials cost. In addition, it allows customers to utilize their internally developed GPS functions, such as navigation and mapping, in order to accommodate multiple navigation architectures. "The RF8110's adaptable software-based architecture allows customers to easily add features, field upgrades or customize their product," said Dave Lyon, RFMD Vice President of Wireless Connectivity. "We're pleased that large OEMs are recognizing that software-based scalable GPS is the wave of the future." RFMD anticipates production shipments of the RFMD GPS RF8110 scalable GPS solution will commence in March of 2007.
