Morgan Hill, CA (November 2006) - Anritsu Company introduces the enhanced Broadband Site Master(tm) S810D/S820D cable and antenna analyzers that are designed with an optional CW source module for conducting long cable loss measurements between 2 MHz and 20 GHz. Complementing the broad frequency range is a compact easy-to-use design with advanced 1-port vector network analyzer (VNA) capabilities, all of which make the S810D/S820D perfect tools for the installation, verification, troubleshooting, and repair of aircraft and shipboard microwave cables, and private/public wireless networks. The S810D/S820D can accurately measure aerospace and defense radar systems, which routinely deploy cables with 15-20 dB of cable loss between transmitters and antennas, making them beyond the practical limits of existing 1-port cable loss techniques. To overcome this limitation, the S810D/S820D offer a new external CW source that coupled with an external detector, offers a true 2-port cable loss measurement capability unique for a low-cost handheld instrument with this frequency coverage. To perform the 2-port cable loss measurement, the external CW source and external detector are connected to opposite ends of the cable to allow scalar measurements of cables with greater than 30 dB insertion loss. Recognizing the need for accuracy and convenience in the field, Anritsu has designed the S810D/S820D with advanced internal vector error and waveguide dispersion corrections to ensure accurate return loss/VSWR measurements on both coaxial and waveguide cables. In fact, the S810D/S820D offer the industry's best portable distance-to-fault accuracy of ±1 cm for microwave frequency applications. They analyzers have simple guided calibration routines that support the new integrated T-Calibration components. When finding faults is critical, the S810D/S820D easily find connector transitions, jumpers, kinks, and degradation of antenna systems in locations where benchtop instruments are not practical. Options are available to expand the measurement capability of the S810D/S820D. A built-in power monitor allows the S810D/S820D to perform accurate power measurements of transmitters. A GPS receiver is also built in so that location information can be provided with the measurement data, which is especially useful for monitoring trends for a particular site. The S810D/S820D also feature Anritsu's patented RF interference rejection to ensure accurate and repeatable measurements, even in situations where co-location can interfere with measurements. A large and high-resolution color TFT display makes test interpretation easy and fast, even in direct sunlight. A full range of markers enables users to make accurate measurements. Simple pass/fail tests can also be performed quickly via limit lines. A comprehensive data management and analysis software suite, Handheld Software Tools(tm), is standard with the S810D/S820D. Handheld Software Tools provides users with a simple and easy method of managing, archiving, and analyzing system performance, trends, and the general system condition. With the software, users can store and organize field-acquired cable and antenna plots by downloading to any Windows-based PC. This allows test data to be further analyzed and compared to historical performance, which can help detect faults earlier, minimize downtime, and reduce field maintenance costs. The S810D starts at $12,950 while the S820D starts at $19,950 U.S. Dollars. Delivery is 8-10 weeks.
