Andrew Corp., a global leader in communications systems and products, has won a strategic exclusive development and production contract from L-3 Communications—Narda Satellite Networks for a new 3.9 meter flyaway tactical satellite earth station antenna.

The award is the first for Andrew's new military satellite communications (MilSatCom) product line. This L-3 Narda Satellite Networks exclusive lightweight 3.9 meter unit, contained in transit cases required for repeated tactical deployments, also will be one of the first 3.9 meter segmented flyaway antenna subsystems operating in quad-band (C, Ku, Ka and X) frequencies.

"We are honored to win this important contract, our first in the MilSatCom area," said Jude Panetta, group president, Satellite Communications, Andrew Corp. "We look forward to leveraging Andrew's reputation for quality and responsiveness in supporting L-3 Narda Satellite Networks and many other customers in this growing market segment." "Andrew Corp. is a great and strategic addition to the L-3 NSN team as we pursue new opportunities in the tactical niche market," said John Mega, president and chief operating officer of the L-3 Communications Microwave Group. "In combining our technical expertise, we are in an excellent position to provide a specific solution to the satellite communications community with the introduction of this tactical lightweight transit cased medium aperture antenna."
