NEC Corp. has announced that its wholly owned business, CJSC NEC Neva Communications Systems, has expanded its Russian operations with the opening of new regional headquarters in the Republic of Belarus. The move is in line with NEC’s regional strategy to develop its customer partnerships and recognizes the company’s long association with the country that has seen it deploy transport network solutions since 2002, and install more than 11,000 transmitters of the NEC PASOLINK microwave system for JLLC Mobile TeleSystems (MTS), the largest telecom operator in the Republic, over a nine year period.

Nikolay Panteley, the Minister of Communication and Information for the Republic of Belarus expressed his confidence that the establishment of NEC in the Belorussian market will facilitate the development of the Republic’s telecommunications industry.

“The opening of NEC’s offices in Belarus is a significant event,” said Vladimir Karpovich, General Director, JLLC MTS. “NEC is well known around the world as a leader in high-tech and network solutions. We are pleased that our companies are working together as partners to bring advanced and effective technologies to our customers.”

“Russia and the CIS countries are one of the most important markets for the NEC group. The Minsk office is the first development of our expansion activities in Russia and the CIS countries and marks the first step in the development of our relationship with Belarus for the long term,” said Toshiyuki Mineno, Executive Vice President and Chief Global Officer, NEC Corporation. “We believe our solutions will contribute to Belarusian society and we look forward to delivering better services very soon.”
