EMS Technologies Inc. announced the closing of the sale of its Satellite Networks (SatNet) division to Advantech Advanced Microwave Technologies Inc., Montreal, Canada. EMS originally announced the signing of a definitive agreement for the sale on December 22, 2005.

During the past two months, the two companies have worked to obtain the necessary consents from key suppliers and customers. Final terms of the sale were not disclosed.

"We are pleased to have concluded the sale of the SatNet Division to Advantech, which will benefit from SatNet's pioneering work in open-standard DVB-RCS broadband systems," said Alfred G. Hansen, president and chief executive officer of EMS. "This sale affords EMS the opportunity to focus on our remaining divisions, which serve the logistics, defense, wireless and aeronautical and Satcom markets."

Satellite Networks has approximately 81 employees. Advantech, a designer and manufacturer of satellite and wireless telecommunications products, employs 300 people in locations across the United States, Europe and Canada.
