Comtech Wins $3.2 M SATCOM Equipment Order
Comtech Telecommunications Corp. announced that its Tempe, Arizona-based subsidiary, Comtech EF Data Corp., won a $3.2 M order for satellite communications equipment from the United States government. The equipment will be utilized to upgrade fielded satellite terminals that support tactical military communications. Both the MBT-5003 Up/Down Converter System and the SLM-5650A Satellite Modem will be supplied.
The MBT-5003 Up/Down Converter System provides frequency conversion between L-band IF and C-/X-/Ku-band RF frequencies. It is packaged in a 3RU platform and provides high output power in a single chassis, redundant solution. The system is designed for rugged fly-away terminal use.
The SLM-5650A Satellite Modem is compliant with the strict requirements defined in MIL-STD-188-165A, modem types I, II, IV, V and VI for applications on DSCS, WGS and commercial satellites. The modem supports advanced options that increase bandwidth efficiency and flexibility, including the transmission security (TRANSEC) and Network Processor modules. This versatile product can support a variety of applications, which minimizes logistical support and training in the tactical terminal setting.
"This order signifies the US military's continued confidence in Comtech's innovative infrastructure products for mission-critical communications," said Fred Kornberg, President and Chief Executive Officer of Comtech Telecommunications Corp.
